Jaci Carroll Staffing is recruiting for an experienced, responsible, and motivated team player for a Medical Billing Specialist role within a 5-provider physical therapy practice in the Waterbury area. A minimum two years of medical billing experience is required. This is a contract-to-hire position with hours between 9:00AM-5:30PM, Monday-Friday. The pay range would be $22/HR+ DOE.

Medical Billing Specialist Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit paper and electronic clean claims

• Post paper and electronic EOBs, reviewing for inconsistencies or errors

• Research and problem-solve denied claims, documenting actions

• Generate, review, and mail patient statements monthly

• Contact patients regarding insurance and/or payment issues, working with the patient for the best resolution

• Handle incoming billing inquiries

• Apply patient payments, arrange and follow-up on patient payment plans

• Accounts Receivable ("AR") follow-up and documentation

• Make bank deposits

• Reconcile posted payments with deposits

• Remain up-to-date on physical therapy CPT coding, and communicate changes to appropriate team members

• Remain up-to-date on each insurance company’s requirements and fee schedules, communicating changes to appropriate team members

• Periodically complete internal billing audits to ensure compliance with the State of Connecticut laws as well as insurance regulations

• Respond to payer audits

• Meet with staff monthly to discuss potential problems and resolutions

• Follow office guidelines, meeting expected deadlines

A successful Medical Billing Specialist candidate will be proficient in verifying insurance, submitting claims, reading and entering EOBs, recognizing processing errors, submitting appeals, Accounts Receivable follow-up, collect and follow-up on unpaid patient balances. The candidate will have excellent telephone etiquette, exceptional attention-to-detail and documentation skills, be comfortable with researching and multi-tasking, as well as able to work with a sense of urgency. Applicants that are Certified Professional Biller (“CPB™) or Certified Professional Coder (“CPC”) are ideal.
