Jaci Carroll Staffing is seeking an experienced Collections Specialist for a local federal credit union. This is a contract to hire opening with hours being Monday-Friday 8am-4pm. Some occasional evening and weekend hours may be required. Pay will be between $23-$30/hr depending on prior experience. A full benefit package is available at date of permanent hire, including health insurance, a retirement savings plan, and professional development opportunities. The primary responsibility of this role is to contact members who have overdue payments, negotiate payment plans, and ensure the timely collection of outstanding debts. Key responsibilities include:

• Contact members with overdue payments over the phone, by email or mail in a professional and empathetic manner

• Review customer accounts to identify outstanding balances and delinquent accounts

• Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements with members to facilitate debt recovery

• Record and update customer information, payment plans and collection efforts in database. Maintain accurate records of all collection activities

• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding debt collection practices

• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer inquiries and concerns promptly

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve customer issues and disputes

• Assist in the development of collection strategies and best practices

• Meet and exceed collection targets and goals

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, be customer-focused, and have a strong ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be comfortable making a high volume of collection calls and handle highly confidential and sensitive information. High school diploma or equivalent is required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Proven experience as a Collections Representative or similar role is required along with a knowledge of debt collection laws and regulations. Must have proficiency in using collection software and Microsoft Office Suite.
