About the Position
Customer Service & Production Support Specialist
Schedule & Compensation:
Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Some flexibility in hours available.
$22–$25/hour, depending on experience.
Training:
Initial 1–3 weeks of training in New York.
Approximately one additional week of training after 90 days.
Additional equipment, fabrication, and process training will be provided as required.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and organized Customer Service & Production Support Specialist to support our Sales, Engineering, Production, and Purchasing teams.
This is a hybrid office and manufacturing role combining customer service, order coordination, purchasing support, and hands-on fabrication and assembly work.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Order Coordination
Receive, enter, and maintain customer orders and approved order changes.
Respond to customer emails and phone inquiries regarding order status, lead times, delivery dates, and other requests.
Coordinate RFQs, drawings, specifications, and customer requirements with Sales, Engineering, and Production.
Communicate with Production regarding priorities, scheduling, order status, and anticipated completion dates.
Escalate customer concerns, quality issues, conflicting priorities, or potential delivery delays when necessary.
Purchasing & Administrative Support
Assist with purchasing, purchase orders, vendor communication, inventory replenishment, and follow-up on open orders.
Maintain accurate customer, purchasing, production, and administrative records.
Production & Fabrication Support
Perform assembly and light fabrication work according to work instructions, prints, drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Read and interpret basic prints, work orders, measurements, and production documentation.
Use calipers and other basic measuring or inspection tools to verify product requirements.
Operate assigned production machinery and equipment after completing required training.
Perform soldering or related fabrication processes after training and qualification.
Inspect, clean, prepare, and handle parts and materials as required.
Maintain an organized and safe work area while following applicable quality and safety procedures.
Move between office and production responsibilities as workload and business needs require.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in customer service, manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, purchasing, or order coordination preferred.
Hands-on fabrication or manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
Ability to read basic prints, drawings, work orders, and written specifications.
Experience using hand tools, measuring tools, production equipment, or soldering equipment is a plus.
Strong communication, organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Comfortable working directly with customers as well as Sales, Engineering, Production, and management.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
ERP/MRP or manufacturing system experience is a plus.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be comfortable working in both an office and active manufacturing environment.
This position is best suited for someone who is comfortable working with customers at a desk one part of the day and supporting fabrication or production on the shop floor the next.
