In-Process Roaming Inspector – CNC Manufacturing
$24–$28/hr | 2nd & 3rd Shift | Waterbury, CT area
Jaci Carroll Staffing Services | (203) 574-4838
Jaci Carroll Staffing Services is hiring experienced In-Process Roaming Inspectors for CNC machining work in the Waterbury area.
This is a hands-on, floor-based inspection role supporting multiple CNC machining areas. Inspectors move throughout production checking parts during the manufacturing process, verifying quality, and working with operators to help keep production on track. The goal is to catch issues early, support consistency, and prevent scrap or downtime.
You’ll be inspecting a variety of precision-machined components and assemblies, including features like diameters, depths, threads (Go/No-Go), surface finish, and geometric tolerances such as flatness, runout, and perpendicularity. This role requires comfort working independently across different machines and product lines.
In addition to inspection, you’ll be assisting operators with measurement techniques, responding to quality concerns on the floor, and helping troubleshoot minor process or measurement issues when needed. You’ll also be expected to monitor parts throughout production runs, looking for tool wear, drift, or other signs of process variation, and escalating issues when appropriate.
Documentation is part of the role as well—accurate recording of inspection results, maintaining logs, and completing required check sheets and digital records.
All work is performed in accordance with established quality procedures, inspection plans, and internal quality systems. Nonconforming material must be properly identified and separated per procedure.
What we’re looking for:
2–5 years of inspection experience in a CNC machining environment
Strong blueprint reading ability
Basic GD&T knowledge (position, flatness, perpendicularity, etc.)
Experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and Go/No-Go thread gauges
Ability to work with tight tolerances (±0.0005” to ±0.002”)
Experience in high-volume production and inspection of precision-machined components is required.
Nice to have:
Experience with SPC or data collection systems
Familiarity with air gaging or comparative gaging
Basic understanding of CMM inspection reports (no programming required)
